A Message from Ambulance Victoria
We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in memory. If we were involved in an accident the people attending us would not know who to call. Hence this ‘ICE’ Campaign (In Case of Emergency). All we have to do is store the number of a contact person under the name “ICE”.
The idea was the brain child of a paramedic who found that when he attended an accident there were often mobile phones with patients, but he didn’t know which number to call. Let’s hope that we never need an ambo to call our loved ones, but just in case it would be a good idea to store the names of our first and perhaps our second contacts under ICE1 and ICE2.
On a personal basis, I carry an information sheet in my wallet. If an ambo opens my wallet the words EMERGENCY DETAILS stand out. This sheet lists emergency contact details, blood type, Medicare number, GP details, medical history, etc. I hope an ambo never has to open my wallet. But, just in case!!!
